This segment highlights the key components of The Integrated Systems Model (ISM) and the principles of ISM treatment.

Given the same painful impairment, no two individuals will have exactly the same experience and behavior because how they manifest their pain or illness is shaped in part by who they are (Jones & Rivett 2004) what they think and how they feel. There are sensorial, cognitive and emotional dimensions that are individual to every experience. The Integrated Systems Model for Disability & Pain is an evidence-based clinical reasoning approach that considers all three dimensions of the patient’s experience to facilitate decision-making and treatment planning.

Course Reviews

  1. Excellent course

Excellent course. Took the full course in 2019, needed a refresh as haven’t been able to really implement during pandemic and inability to see people more than once every 8-10 weeks, mostly via video. Had written a lengthy review but it won’t except It, kept saying there was no star rating, which there was, tried many times. But overall recommend, just hard to implement when you can’t see patients but rarely for 30-40 minute appointments via video and not be able to build confidence in tactile skills.

This course addresses clinical reasoning in a way that few others do. Often practitioners aren’t even aware that there are strategies to defining musculoskeletal problems in a way that’s beyond a description of where the pain is. This course is superb for organising you’re clinical approach.
