Tamarah Nerreter
Physiotherapist
Surrey, BC, Canada

Born with bilateral hip dysplasia Tamarah proved the doctors wrong and broke into the world of sports. Her fascination with movement led her to compete in Ringette and Ice Hockey at a provincial level from age 6 to 17. She then pursued her athletic endeavours in running, soccer, snowboarding, stand up paddle boarding and golf.

Tamarah graduated with her Master of Physiotherapy in 2007 from Curtin University in Perth, Australia. Since then, she has been working in private practice in Vancouver, BC. While in Australia, Tamarah pursued her interest in women’s health through various avenues: pioneering a post partum exercise pamphlet; honing her interest in sport and related physiotherapy treatment; and completing her Master’s thesis on the practice of ‘core’ stability programs in the rehabilitation of osteitis pubis/groin injuries.

Tamarah has a keen interest in women’s health issues. For this aspect of her practice, Tamarah draws upon her knowledge of orthopedic and neurological assessments. In addition, she leverages her further professional development and certifications specific to women’s health namely, in the treatment of pre/post natal patients, rectus diastasis (a separation of the abdominal wall during pregnancy), pelvic floor rehabilitation, prolapse, urinary incontinence, pelvic pain issues, post surgical and osteoporotic patients. As a new mother herself, Tamarah has particular interest in educating the pre and post-natal patient of potential physical problems during the childbearing years and treating these pre/post-natal associated issues.

Tamarah’s approach to treatment is facilitated from her extensive post grad course work. She is certified to assess and treat pelvic floor dysfunction, obtaining advanced certification in incontinence, prolapse, pelvic pain and pudendal neuralgia. Further, Tamarah is working toward her Visceral certification with the Barral Institute, completing VMI and VM2 (Fall 2013). This current training both fascinates her and allows for a deeper understanding of the body.

Her certification in Vestibular Rehabilitation facilitates her treating balance and dizziness disorders. She obtained her OsteoFit Certification to educate and rehabilitate osteoporotic patients. In addition, Tamarah is also certified in Acupuncture (CAFCI).

Tamarah has completed professional training in The Integrated Systems Model (Lee D 2011- The Pelvic Girdle 4th edition ), a whole body assessment and treatment approach practiced extensively at Diane Lee & Associates.

Tamarah is also working to complete her Fellowship in the Canadian Academy of Manual and Manipulative Therapy (FCAMT). Furthermore, Tamarah is certified in and has worked privately teaching Pilates (mat and reformer), and has her own personal training business in Tsawwassen/Vancouver.

Outside of physiotherapy, Tamarah enjoys family life and activities in the outdoors! She also enjoys competition: snowshoe racing, soccer and trail running. Her love for Vancouver runs deep as she doesn’t know any other place one could snowboard/snowshoe, hike the grouse grind, run the seawall, surf, and golf all in one day!!
